FIFA is moving ahead with the World Cup project every two years
The possibility of seeing the football stars players in World cup action every two years goes ahead. The proposal was made by the Federation of Saudi Arabia at the conference held at the end of May and approved by the majority of the members of the organization’s staff: 166 federations voted in favor and only 22 voted against the project.
Usually, the federations present ideas that have been debated in recent months in FIFA commissions and that the organization’s top management is interested in being discussed by Congress. This was the case of the three of 2021.

- Proposal from the Liberian Football Association requesting a blueprint for the future of FIFA youth competitions.
The main enthusiast of the changes, the FIFA’s President Gianni Infantino is based on the argument of taking more teams to the final phase and the possibility of more countries being hosts.
The second item attracts the attention of the African Confederation, is the opportunity of being able to host the tournament again in a short period. It is worth remembering that the only time the tournament was held on the continent was in 2010, in South Africa. Morocco country was defeated in 2006, 2010 and 2026.
2026 World Cup
If the World cup every two years project is approved, the tournament will be played every two years after the World Cup in 2026, which will be held for the first time in three countries. United States, Canada and Mexico will be hosting the biggest football event.
It is worth remembering that from the 2026 World Cup there will be an increase from 32 to 48 teams playing in the World Cup. The FIFA Council chose and voted unanimously to expand to a 48-team tournament.
FIFA World Cup Host in 2030
In the current format, two continents appear as favorites to host the event in 2030. In South America, with Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay. In Europe, England is interested and FIFA wanting to expand to the United Kingdom, encompassing the country of Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland together. In addition, Portugal and Spain also appear with a joint proposal.
